The Provincial Government of Camarines Sur, through the Information, Communication, Archives, and Records Management Office (ICARMO), successfully conducted the ICT Web Defense from March 24 to 25, 2025 at the Rodriguez National High School (RNHS) in Cadlan, Pili, Camarines Sur.
As part of the Digital Literacy Program, the event provided a platform for Grade 11 Information and Communications Technology (ICT) students to exhibit their expertise in web development, particularly in web design using Canva and Figma, and web programming with HTML, CSS, and PHP by utilizing the province’s modern classroom. The initiative aimed to equip students with critical technical skills for their academic and professional success in the digital age.
ICT web defense proved to be a valuable learning experience for the students. Hannah Mae Lanuza, a Grade 11 ICT student and the quality assurance tester during the presentation, shared how the activity provided valuable lessons for her. “Natutunan ko po kung pano gumawa ng test case table at proud po ako kasi natapos namin itong defense [kahit nakakakaba],” she said. A test case table is a structured way to organize and document test cases for software testing.
During the web defense, Jonalie Quillosa Alvarez, ICT teacher at RNHS, and Hernanie Valeza Morales, a web developer at ICARMO, served as panelists who evaluated the students' projects, commending their communication skills, problem-solving capabilities, and confidence as they presented their technical work. Both panelists emphasized the significance of the modern classroom in advancing digital literacy and fostering young innovators prepared for future challenges.
Equipped with advanced technology, flexible seating arrangements, and interactive learning tools, the modern classroom was designed to engage students in practical experiences and problem-solving activities. It has created a dynamic space where students could thrive, experiment, and take ownership of their learning process, ultimately enhancing their academic and personal growth.
With the vision to make the province the leader in ICT and software development, the Provincial Government remains committed to boosting its Digital Literacy Program through its modern classroom to constantly enhance technological and innovative advancement in education. Through initiatives like this, students are empowered with the necessary skills to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
