History

Minalabac is famous for the so-called "Tumatarok ni San Felipe-Santiago" dance festival where young boys aged 10 to 12 years old performed the dance ritual.

The town is not just famous for the dance festival but is likewise considered as the refuge of many distinguished political figures with their families during the outbreak of the World War II.

Socio-Economic Profile

The residents in this municipality are chiefly engaged in farming, swine and poultry raising. It is said that animal raising is considered to be one of the potential industries in this area. This industry, however, is only limited to backyard projects.

Minalabac also concentrates on various food crops production like the planting of root crops, leafy pechay and eggplant.

There is the availability of a solar dyer which is one type of agro-industrial establishment put up in the place. Potential target spots which can be converted into tourist destination are the barangays of Salingogon, Bagolatao, Hamoraon and San Antonio which are famous for their wide and clean beaches and also for the presence of white and black pebbles.

2) Rice land covers an area of 9,003.9317 hectares or 62.11% to total agricultural land and upland devoted to rice production covers an area of 1,262.8345 hectares or 14.05% to total rice land area percent (0.20%) to total agricultural land
3) Corn land covers an area of 25.9481 hectares or less than one
4) Livestock and poultry raising are generally limited to backyard projects
